Long Beach, Calif. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 – Leading launch and space systems company Rocket Lab today announced it has signed a deal with in-space manufacturing company Varda Space Industries to produce three Photon spacecraft that will integrate with their space factories, enabling high-value products to be manufactured in zero-gravity and returned to Earth in Varda’s re-entry capsule.

Auckland robotics company Rocos Global says it has been bought by a US drone company and no longer has financial links to China’s iFlytek, a firm blacklisted by the US Government over its involvement in the persecution of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang.

New data shows for the third consecutive month quarterly house price growth in New Zealand has eased.

The latest QV House Price Index figures show that for the three-month period ending in July, the average value of a home in New Zealand increased 4.3 percent, down from the 6.6 percent quarterly growth recorded to the end of June.

New Zealand could offer quarantine-free travel or shorter stays in managed isolation for people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 from low-risk countries - but it shouldn't start until at least early next year, a new report suggests.

Research commissioned by Associate Health Minister Ayesha Verrall, led by prominent epidemiologist Sir David Skegg, says when New Zealand starts to re-open its borders, infection outbreaks will be inevitable.

A Chinese court upheld on Tuesday a Canadian man's death sentence for drug smuggling, prompting condemnation from Ottawa, a day before another court is due to rule on the case of a Canadian accused of spying.

The court proceedings for the two Canadians come as lawyers in Canada representing the detained chief financial officer of Chinese telecoms giant Huawei make a final push to persuade a court there not to extradite her to the United States.
