Even though the cafe is open from 7.30 they were obviously still setting up at 8.30 as there was very little in the way of options. No hot food and no sandwiches which meant we had to branch out and try something different.
I went for a yo-yo biscuit and Nighthawk went for a belgium slice. Very nice service and the lady who served us mentioned the baking was done on site which was nice. Home made baking yum.

The coffee was a good size and we both commented that it was one of the better ones we have had in a while.
Rembrandt does have that cafe atmosphere to it, even though we were the only ones there and has an ever so slightly retro feel it. The prices were pretty good as well and with friendly service. We are glad we had a chance to go to such a Dunedin institution and support somewhere that is probably being hit by all the road works and developments in the area. Would like to visit again and try some of their hot food servings.
