US President Donald Trump has sent a late-night tweet celebrating a "wonderful" meeting with New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern.
Ardern and Trump met for a "pull-aside" 25-minute meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly's leaders week on Tuesday.
The pair, who do not see eye to eye on very many issues, discussed New Zealand's gun control measures following the Christchurch shooting among other topics.

Trump sent out a tweet just after midnight in New York time, quoting a news story on the meeting which itself quoted Ardern saying "President Trump views New Zealand very warmly, views the relationship very warmly and holds New Zealand in very high regard."
"True," added the US President. "A wonderful meeting!
