A car had to be retrieved from the waters of Otago Harbour past Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident, off Aramoana Rd, near Hamilton Bay, just after 4pm.

The car - an Audi - had gone off the road into the water.

The driver did not require hospital treatment, and the car was later retrieved from the harbour.

There were no details about the cause or if charges would follow.
