A nine-year-old Ukrainian girl that lost her arm and father after being gunned down by Russian forces hopes the soldiers "didn't mean to hurt her".
The girl, known only as Sasha, was trying to flee Kyiv with her family when Russian soldiers opened fire on their car and then the family as they ran on foot to shelter.
Sasha, her mother and sister managed to escape to shelter in a basement, but her father was tragically killed.
Sasha was slipping in and out of consciousness for two days until she was carried to a hospital by volunteers waving a white flag, where her arm was amputated.
"I don't know why the Russians shot me," she said, according to the Daily Mail. "I hope it was an accident and that they didn't mean to hurt me."
"I was shot in the arm. I ran after my sister. My mum fell over. I thought it was the end. But she was not dead, she was just sheltering from the gunfire. She was hiding."
The United Nations reported on Sunday that 85 children had been killed and more than 100 injured in the Ukraine invasion so far, however it is likely that these numbers are a lot higher.

The first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska posted on Facebook that Sasha will continue to receive treatment abroad.
"However, to heal the wounds in the heart will be much more difficult," Zelenska wrote.
She said there is a mass grave in the city of Bucha for Ukrainians that couldn't escape and were killed by the Russian occupants or by the absence of medical help.
"This is the pain, that is forever with us, with those, who survived," Zelenska wrote. "Cities and towns in Ukraine need humanitarian corridors. Peaceful Ukrainians need safe corridors not under occupants’ conditions but under conditions of safety for civilians!"
