Supporting our Pacific partners. Royal New Zealand Air Force aircrew on one of our Orion aircraft have been on maritime patrols to detect and deter illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activity in the Pacific.
The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency, FFA coordinated Operation Rai Balang involved: maritime surveillance across 13.3 million square kms of the Pacific 349 sightings and 30 boardings 11 ships 6 aircraft National organisations in Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu have been working together to conduct surveillance, supported by the four Pacific Quad partners - Australia, France, New Zealand and the United States.
