Three people in a car fleeing police in North Otago managed to escape, despite having two spiked tyres. 

Police started the pursuit after a driver failed to stop on Avon St, near the Oamaru Lookout, at 12.11am on Thursday.

The vehicle, a Nissan Primera with the registration WK7600, was later spiked on Ardgowan Rd – about 7 kilometres away from where the pursuit started.

The vehicle, which is understood to have two spiked tyres, fled the scene with its three occupants.
