Ok so I have a Commodore 128D, why do I need a Commodore C64, well while the C128 is compatible with the c64 (in C64 mode) it isn't exactly 100% compatible there are a few apps and games that it doesn't seem to like. (not many mind you) we are talking well under 1%...

In all my years of owning the 128D, I personally have not come across a program or game that it can not run, however, they are out there and I knew this back in the day when I originally bought it. Secondly, the now-famous SID chip is not the same, it is very close but not quite, it sounds like an emulated one (now that could be just me) but it doesn't sound quite right.

Most of the cartridges I have are designed for the C64, ie; Mssiha, Final Cartridge III+, Epyx Fastload Reloaded, Ultimate64 II+ Cartridge. Which means you are limited to the C64 and C64 of memory and it does not access the 128 k of memory.

Most of the new hardware, (yes people are still making stuff for this 30-year-old computer) is designed for the C64, an example is Ultimate64 II+ Cartridge while you may be able to get it to work on the C128 there a certain things that it give more quirks, for one frequency to, 2nd, on the 128D having the built-in Floppy can cause a few quirks and issues. There are some workarounds but not ideal in the big scheme. All my games and apps are for the C64, I have a few for the C128...

Not like back in the day when it was the other way around. So for me, that is enough reason to want an actual C64, as well as my C128D
