US President Donald Trump's Space Force has proudly shown off the first picture of its uniform, and, well, the internet has a lot of feelings about.

The US Space Force (USSF) is the newest branch of the military, the first to be created in over 70 years, and has been in the works since March 2018.

Trump officially launched his Space Force in December as part of the 2020 National Defense Authorisation Act. Space Force is not designed or intended to put combat troops in space. It is being used to organise US defence interests in space - especially satellites for navigation and communication.

Now the USSF has tweeted a picture of its uniform, and it does look a little familiar.

"The first #SpaceForce utility uniform nametapes have touched down in the Pentagon."

The very earthly-looking camo design has been getting a fair bit of flak.

"How many trees are you expecting to find in space?" wrote one commentator.

"Have you been to a part of space where this camouflage would blend in?", asked another.

The reaction was so strong that the USSF had to defend the design.

"USSF is utilizing current Army/Air Force uniforms, saving costs of designing/producing a new one. Members will look like their joint counterparts they'll be working with, on the ground."

Still that didn't stop commentators coming up with their own designs.
