Our original plan was to go to Toroa Cafe out at the Royal Albatross Centre out one the Otago Peninsula. Driving through Portobello we saw the Cove Cafe... and that was where we went for our first coffee.

Name: Cove Cafe Portobello
Address: 1726 Highcliff Road, Portobello, Dunedin 9014
Website: https://www.facebook.com/covecafeportobello/

We went in and they a nice range of food from savory to sweets... So we ordered scones, coffee and I also ordered a ginger crunch slice...while Xaria also got a cheese roll. I was going to pay I realised I left my wallet in the car, or it fell out of my pocket, as I know that I had it... So Xaria paid... and I went back to the car and found my wallet. sealed

We originally sat inside then thought well this is silly as it was such a nice day out. While we were discussing where to sit the group that were sitting out the front left and the was swarm from a flock of seagulls all over the table... However we decided to sit outside... sitting out side looking out over the bay and Otago Harbour... We are lucky to like here in a such a beautiful part of the country.

The view from the Cove Cafe.

It didn't take that long for our coffees to arrive and moments later our scones and my slice for my sugar rush for the day. The scones were pretty darn good, and for the Ginger Crunch slice I was on a sugar rush so it was good.

Coffee and scones

The service was good and the price was pretty good as well.  While it is not a cafe I would travel to every day for my coffee, but if in the area or showing friends around the Otago Peninsula then sure would go back. Years gone by we use to ride out to Portobello sometimes the tavern, sometimes the Cafe... it is good to see that it is still open. If are in the area yes we will visit again
