Well to we have plans... and the original plan was to go to Waikouati Bakery ... why the bakery and a bit of Sunday Drive ... because the advertised coffee we wanted to see if there was also any seating ... So we know they had plenty of serve over the counter cabinet food... I mean it is a bakery after all. However there was out doors seating but none in doors... so we had to rule out, BUT to be fair they did not advertise they were a cafe... SO...

We continued to Palmerston and to the "The Coffee Cup Café." Lucky Palmerston is only just the road... We parked right out front.

The Coffee Cup Café had good range a counter food and ... Today was a bit different, as I ordered a mutton pie, scone and coffee, while Xaria ordered a scone and cheese roll.

We found a table a seating by the gas fire heater... I mean it was fire... and fire is good. We didn't have to wait long for our coffee's. A few minutes later our scones arrived and they had been heated properly not just waving a candle over them and calling done that a lot of cafes seem to do, this means the butter melts nicely through the scone making that gooey goodness.   We both enjoyed the savory scones and had a nice texture and tasted pretty good.

Finally my mutton pie and Xaria's cheese roll arrived. and I again the cheese roll was well heated/toasted if anything a little too well over heated.

The mutton pie, was as I remember mutton pies taste, and the reason why I ordered one... yum. I do love a good mutton pie.

The coffee wasn't to bad either, pretty hard to critique coffee as it is pretty personal how different people enjoy or like to have their coffee. We have been asked where do we recommend for a good coffee... We simply don't answer where for this very reason... What you think is a good coffee I might not.

The service was pretty good all round, and the price for two coffee's, two savory scones, a mutton pie and a cheese roll was in the region of $33.00 so the price was pretty good.  The Coffee Cup Café did have that cafe feel to however there was something missing while the gas fire was good, maybe a music in the background was needed. That being said we asked would we go there to meet up with our friends, Xaria mention that she was thinking maybe a ride up to Palmerston on the bikes for a coffee to which I replied well we use to do that when there was a cafe in the old railway station, which is still up for sale I might add.

Over all we enjoyed our visit and if we are passing through Palmerston would happily visit again.
