The Wobbly Goat Cafe out in Outram Dunedin is an old favorite and pretty well know to Dunedin motorcyclists that like doing the Middlemarch loop on a nice summers day.

Name: Wobbly Goat Cafe
Address: 15a Holyhead Street, Outram 9019
Website:

On an early winter's day we decided the Wobbly Goat... after double checking it was open on the Sunday. Even though I said it is an old favorite it has been a while since last visited here.

Wobbly Goat Cafe, good selection of cabinet food...

They still had a pretty good selection of over the counter cabinet foods, like scones, muffins, cheese rolls, sausage rolls etc and all looked pretty good. Trying to decide what I wanted was the hard part, tossing up between the scone and sausage roll as the double cheese roll was always on the cards. The sausage roll won on this day while Xaria got a savory muffin.

It was good to see the quality hadn't changed since my last visit.

Our order... double cheese roll with gooey goodness...

We found a table and seats outside, and waited for our order to arrive... one day we will say we waited and waited, but not today as it all arrived pretty quickly.  We believe this was they had a good number of staff on and had only been open for about half an hour or so.

The cheese rolls would be up there with my favorite so far on our cafescapade (that is if you like cheese rolls and who doesn't... other than those people that don't like cheese I guess sealed ) Xaria agrees the double roll with lots of cheese and oozing with that gooey goodness what could possibly go wrong. My sausage roll was as good as I remember from the last time I was here which was (mumble mumble mumble years ago).

Xaria said the muffin was nice, but had a pretty strong pepper taste but couldn't really taste the fetta/feta (to be fair I am not sure which cheese it was as they are both different). This was just a note not a complaint as we start getting in to personal tastes... Which is why I hate food critics.

The coffee's were pretty good as well for our tastes. The cost was getting up there with what we normally pay (I think it was $37.00) but in honestly so was the quality and serving portion etc. The staff were friendly as we chatted to them while they were doing their thing.

There was a good amount of seating out doors but alas very limited to the number of seating indoors purely due to the size and space available inside the actual cafe building. One of the first questions we always ask ourselves when we visit the various cafes on the cafescapade, does this cafe feel like a cafe and there has been very few we said "well no it doesn't." The Wobbly Goat, however, does not fall in this category and does feel like a cafe and is part of the cafe culture... even with the limited indoor seating.

We have always enjoyed the Wobbly Goat and glad to see it hasn't changed.
