Like most days we do the cafescapade deciding where we were going to go, we decided the Zoo Cafe down at St Clair. We even checked mr google to see if it was open... I am going to say don't always trust mr google ... google doesn't know everything that is a myth.

Name: Esplanade
Address: Esplanade, St Clair, Dunedin 9012
Website: https://www.esplanade.co/

We are guessing that the cafe was closed due to covid and staffing issues... not 100% sure.

So for those that don't know the area, there are three or four cafes in the area, (we have already cafescapaded one) so we walked down to one of the others and ended up in the Esplanade.

We were shown an available seat and the waitress was over very soon with a menu. Saying we only after a scone or something she showed us the options... x2 parmesan and rocket savory scones and 2 flat whites.

The Esplanade Cafe

The place was quite busy already considering we went earlier than normal knowing the area can get busy and parking could be an issue. However we were surprised how quickly our scones came and our coffee's did not take much longer. Very efficient I must say.

The scones were pretty good, Xaria said when we were walking back to the car, that they are up there on her list of scones. The coffee was fine but maybe a tad to much froth and when I say a tad a mean a smidgen, and when I say a smidgen I mean a fraction...

Coffee's and savory scones - Esplanade

The place definitely feels like a cafe, and is great addition to the Cafe Culture thing... the wooden floors, tables and chairs as well the decor of the place just says cafe, warm and welcoming. The cost of the two coffees and two scones was reasonable at $24.00.

We were sitting by the window watching the world go by, with the view of the sea and surfers, and 10 out of 10 for puppy lovers... I lost count how many puppies we saw... (for those that don't really know me... when I say puppies, that is any dog, any age, any size any breed... they are just puppies laughing )

Overall a great cafe experience added to our cafescapade. Will catch you on our next adventure.

Early coffee today as we decided to go to Esplanade and it is a very popular location for brunch in the weekend. Even getting a park a bit after 9 was interesting. Very friendly service and extremely fast getting our parmesan and rocket scones to us and not much longer to get our coffees. Amazing views over the beach and watching the surfers and all the dogs out for Sunday walks.
