Haere rā Aotearoa Aloha Hawaii. HMNZS Aotearoa sailed from the Devonport Naval Base today on her way to the world’s largest international maritime exercise - RIMPAC 22.
HMNZS Aotearoa set sails for RIMPAC

Held every two years in Hawaii and Southern California, and hosted by the United States Navy 3rd Fleet, RIMPAC will be an opportunity for our Navy to exercise with 26 other nations.

Commanding Officer of Aotearoa, Commander Dave Barr and his crew will join 38 other ships at sea, four submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 multinational personnel as they exercise real-life scenarios and enhance interoperability with military partners.

RIMPAC 22, is part of a five and a half month deployment for Aotearoa in the Asia Pacific region. Following the exercise, the ship will have a number of international engagements including attendance at the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force International Fleet Review in November, before returning to New Zealand in time for Christmas.

Fair winds Aotearoa.
