WATCH the Royal New Zealand's Navy's ship HMNZS Aotearoa and her crew have conducted their first successful Replenishment at Sea trials when they met up with the Australian Navy ships HMAS Parramatta and HMAS Hobart off Australia’s east coast.

Aotearoa is currently undergoing aspects of her Introduction Into Service in Australian waters. A key role of Aotearoa will be the refuelling at sea of our ships and those of our allies.

Did you know? Aotearoa’s impressive fuel carrying capability will allow her to refuel an:
  • Anzac frigate over 30 times
  • Seasprite helicopter over 1,500 times.
Conducting dry hook-up training with different classes of RAN ships provides invaluable capability experience for the crew of Aotearoa. And training with the Aussies is always good from a relationship perspective.

In accordance with NSW Health requirements, the ship has been quarantining at sea before she will be able to berth in Sydney which she is expected to do by mid-March.
