Two soldiers were burned during a training exercise at Linton Military Camp on Thursday night.

Both were transported to hospital in a serious condition. The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) confirmed late in the evening they were both in a stable condition at Palmerston North Hospital.

"We will not be releasing further details at this stage," NZDF said in a statement. "A full investigation will follow."
