A 24-year-old woman and 41-year-old man were arrested in the capital yesterday, after allegedly travelling from Auckland to Wellington in breach of Alert Level 4 restrictions.

They have been charged with failing to comply with the Covid-19 order and are expected to appear in Wellington District Court tomorrow.

The Health Ministry says the pair have tested negative for the virus and is imploring others to follow the lockdown rules.

Last night, another breach was reported where a couple crossed Auckland's southern border using false documents and had gone to stay in Taupō.

Police in Taupō were alerted, and the pair's vehicle was spotted by an officer finishing her shift.

They have since returned to Tāmaki Makaurau, police said.

The incidents follow another high profile lockdown breach last week, where an Auckland couple travelled from Auckland to Wānaka.

William Willis, a 35-year-old equestrian from Karaka, and his partner Hannah Rawnsley, a 26-year-old barrister from Pukekohe, crossed the alert level 4 border between Auckland and Hamilton on 9 September using essential worker exemptions.

The couple then drove to Hamilton Airport, where they caught a commercial flight to Queenstown via Wellington, and then rented a vehicle and drove to Wānaka.

Police were notified of the breach via the Covid-19 compliance reporting tool online and found the pair on 11 September.

Willis and Rawnsley have since apologised, saying the decision to travel to Wānaka was "completely irresponsible and inexcusable".

Charges have not been laid yet against the couple.
